What We Offer

Our Teeth Cleaning Services in Charlotte

Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT)

GBT is a systematic, evidence-based protocol that uses a disclosing agent to reveal biofilm before it's removed. This ensures every trace of plaque and bacteria is identified and eliminated — far more thorough than a standard cleaning approach.

Air Polishing

Using a gentle stream of water, air, and fine powder, air polishing removes staining and biofilm from tooth surfaces and hard-to-reach areas with minimal pressure — making it ideal for patients with sensitivity, implants, or orthodontic hardware.

The PWR PAIR System

Our signature PWR PAIR protocol combines the latest in biofilm detection, air polishing, and ultrasonic scaling for a cleaning that's gentler on enamel and gums while being more effective at removing the buildup that causes decay and gum disease.

Gentle Cleaning for Sensitive Teeth

Traditional metal scalers can feel harsh on sensitive teeth and gums. Our air-polishing approach significantly reduces discomfort, making cleanings accessible and even enjoyable for patients who have avoided the dentist due to sensitivity.

Comprehensive Exam & X-Rays

Every cleaning visit includes a thorough exam by Dr. Layton, reviewing your gum health, checking for early signs of decay, oral cancer screening, and updating digital X-rays as needed to catch problems before they become costly.

Periodontal Maintenance

For patients managing gum disease, we offer periodontal maintenance cleanings on a customized schedule — typically every 3–4 months — to keep bacterial levels controlled and protect the bone and tissue supporting your teeth.

Common Questions

Teeth Cleaning FAQ

How often should I get my teeth cleaned? +
Most patients benefit from cleanings every six months. However, if you have a history of gum disease, are prone to heavy buildup, or are going through certain health changes, we may recommend every 3–4 months. We'll tailor a schedule to your specific needs.
What is the PWR PAIR system? +
PWR PAIR is our signature cleaning protocol that pairs guided biofilm therapy (GBT) with air polishing technology. Together, they remove plaque, biofilm, and staining more gently and completely than traditional methods — ideal for all patients, especially those with sensitivity or implants.
Is air polishing safe for my teeth and gums? +
Yes — air polishing is extremely gentle and safe. It uses a low-abrasion powder mixed with water and air, which is much softer on enamel and gum tissue than traditional rubber cup polishing. It's also safe around implants, veneers, and orthodontic brackets.
I have sensitive teeth — will a cleaning hurt? +
Sensitivity during cleanings is one of the most common reasons people avoid the dentist. Our air polishing and GBT approach is specifically designed to minimize discomfort. We also offer topical numbing and can adjust our technique based on your comfort level throughout the visit.
Does insurance cover teeth cleanings? +
Most dental insurance plans cover two preventive cleanings per year at 100%. We're happy to verify your benefits before your visit. If you're uninsured, our Layton Membership plan includes cleanings and exams at a flat annual rate.
What's the difference between a regular cleaning and a deep cleaning? +
A regular (prophylaxis) cleaning removes plaque and tartar above and just below the gumline. A deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) goes further below the gumline to treat active gum disease. During your exam, Dr. Layton will assess your gum health and recommend the appropriate level of care.
